Let your child pick out fruit.  Then show them how to pick fruit.  If they want to eat it right away, the fruit can be ripe.  If they want to have it for later in the week, the fruit should be more firm.

Most importantly, let their senses guide the discovery.  You serve as a reference. Don't know?  Take out your smartphone and google it or ask one of the awesome farmers for help!

It's always a treat to go to the local farmer's market.  Even if it is a small stand by the side of the road, it's imperative that your child gets to experience fruit and vegetables that are NOT in the supermarket/grocer.

Fortunately farmer markets are growing in popularity as people move toward securing more local produce.

It's really important to provide "organic" experiences by taking your child places that will stimulate their 5 senses.

    Senses:
    • sight
    • smell
    • sound
    • touch
    • taste
